PVHS Dress Code Expectations
Our school wide expectations are to Be Safe, Be Respectful, Be Responsible. Wearing appropriate clothing and shoes fall under being safe, responsible, and respectful. Dressing appropriately is a preventative measure to protect and keep oneself safe. Students are expected to comply with the dress code rules while attending all school activities including field trips and athletic events. The following are the guidelines of the PVHS Dress Code:
No clothing can have any reference to alcohol, drugs, nudity, sex, gang affiliations, or double-meaning.
Shirts: Shirts must be worn at all times, have two straps, one over each shoulder. Chest must be covered, i.e. no cleavage or breast showing. No sheer fabric or holes in fabric unless a tank top or shirt is worn underneath. Shirt should touch the top of the waistband of shorts/pants/capris/skirt. No midriff should be visible.
Shorts: Shorts must cover buttocks and be worn at the waist. Shorts may not have any holes or rips that reveal undergarments, genitalia, or buttocks. Athletic shorts which meet dress code guidelines are acceptable. Spandex shorts should not be worn, unless worn as a between layer for athletics.
Skirts or dresses: Skirts or dresses must cover buttocks. No shear fabric or holes in fabric unless shorts/pants are worn underneath. Skirts must be worn at the waist. Dresses must have two straps one over each shoulder and meet all the requirements of the shirt dress code description (see above).
Pants, Jeans, Capris: Pants, Jeans, Capris must be worn at the waist. Pants, Jeans, or Capris may not have any holes or rips that reveal undergarments, genitalia, or buttocks.
Shoes: Shoes/Footgear must have a closed-toe and a hard sole. No slippers, houseshoes, or soft soled shoes may be worn. Birkenstocks, flip flops, and crocs are not recommended as they are not safe.
With regards to spirit days/dress up days, we ask that the dress code be followed and that no full coverage masks are worn. Full face coverings are never permitted.
